Donations
There are several ways you can help the Matthew 25 Farm succeed in 2010 through a donation, all if which will be necessary for the farm to continue successfully.
Cash & Equipment Donations:
For 2010 we have two budgets: one is our operating budget and the other is our equipment budget. The equipment budget was needed because we started with virtually no farm equipment in 2009 except a loaned tractor and plow. In addition, we were loaned some older pieces of equipment for planting. We discovered through the growing season what we would require in the future, if we really wanted to continue feeding people. We have been able to purchase several pieces of used equipment through grant money that was given for the purchase of acquiring equipment. However, we are still in need of additional equipment, and will make such purchases as donations come in.
ORCHARD: St. Cecilia's Church in Solvay ,raised the funds for 100 apple trees which were planted in the spring for our new orcahrd. The new orchard still has room for more trees. If you, or your group, wish to donate funds toward the purchase of additional fruit trees, just let us know. We are also hoping to put in raspberry bushes.
Donations can be mailed to: Matthew 25 Farm, 4865 State Route 80, Tully, NY 13159. All cash donations of $25.00 or more will receive a letter from the Farm Treasurer appropriate for IRS purposes.
Labor:
There are several ways you can donate your labor to the farm, all of which are needed in their season:
Mechanics - We currently now own several pieces of used farm equipment. They are all new to us and need to be gone over. Many of them need some repair work done before they will be field ready, others just need a little oil. If you are good at turning the wrench and at solving mechanical problems, please join us on a Saturday to get the machinery up to speed for spring planting. Please email us of your interest and we will let you know when we are meeting.
Harvesters and Weeders - We can always use people to harvest.
